The Best Way to Welcome November: Together!

From theater performance to birthday dinner, one November day unfolds with friends and family.

Wow, it’s November already. I blinked, and suddenly 2025 has only two months left. Two. Months. Left. How did that happen? I swear, wasn’t it just March yesterday when I was still promising myself I’d start exercising “next week”? I really should start tomorrow!

This afternoon, my husband and I went to Gedung Kesenian Jakarta to watch the Abang None Jakarta performance. We went to support our dear friend, Kak Maudy Koesnaedi, with Geng Ijo. The script was originally written by another Geng Ijo member, Kak Swastika Nohara, a movie screenwriter.

When we arrived, we got our seats thanks to Grandis and Vina, and guess who sat right in front of us? Bang Rano Karno. Yep. The Vice Governor of Jakarta, also the very man who played Doel, the husband of Zaenab, played by none other than Kak Maudy herself. It’s like a reunion of characters, only this time, we’re extras. 😅

For two hours, we were entertained by a beautiful theater show blending drama, dance, music, and even martial arts. It was about heroes, both past and present. The moment that truly moved me was when the guest singer performed Indonesia Tanah Air BetaThe hall fell quiet, and suddenly, everyone was united by the same tender love for our homeland.

After the performance, of course we took a photo with Kak Maudy. She was glowing, graceful as always.

But no time to linger too long, because parent life calls. We rushed off to Bintaro to pick up our youngest. She had joined Azzam, Mbak Fit’s eldest son, for a launch event. They were promoting chicken sausages with no flour, no MSG, no preservatives. Healthy and apparently, delicious. Turns out, they sold a lot and even got some bonus goodies. She proudly told us all about it in the car, excitedly.

Next we pick up our eldest and then head to Gyugogi Japanese & Korean Charcoal Grill to celebrate her birthday. We got seated in the VIP room, and here’s what we ordered:

  1. Gyugogi Funamori Hikari (700gr)

  2. Gyugogi Kale Salad

  3. Japanese Rice Large

  4. Soju Jinro Grape

  5. Green tea (unlimited refill)

Gyugogi Funamori Hikari (700gr)

Every dish was worth it. The salad was crisp, the beef melted in our mouths, and that Soju, dangerously smooth. We spent two and a half hours eating, laughing, and listening to the staff explain every dish like we were judges on MasterChef. We got a lot of complementaries and added discount from owners too!

We went home with full belly, full hearts, and full of laughters.

Sometimes, I think the older I get, the more I understand that time isn’t really speeding up. It’s just that we’re becoming more aware of how precious it is. Maybe that’s what people mean when they say life moves fast. It’s not the years that pass. It’s us, finally noticing them.

And maybe that’s why November feels both nostalgic and kind. Because somewhere between busy schedules and growing kids, we realize we’ve been living the very moments we once prayed for.

So here’s to the days that blur together, the drives that feel endless, and the dinners that turn into memories. May time keep flying only because our hearts are full.

What I Learned from Timothy Tiah - Founder of Nuffnang

Last Sunday when I entered VIP room at JWEF , I was introduced to this guy with his mini version boy on his lap, and his pretty wife with white top and red skirt. We had chit chat and he told me he’d be in Jakarta this Tuesday, and I told him that we’d have 57th #Startuplokal Monthly Meetup on Tuesday night.  To be really honest, only a very few did I know about him until he shared his amazing story on JWEF stage a few minutes later, and get inspired that I took note and now share this with you all.  Timothy Tiah founded Nuffnang with Cheo Ming Shen at 2006 when he was 22 years old, with 150k RM startup capital, partly borrowed from his father. He simply founded it because there’s nobody built it before, while the demand was actually there. The site was launched in February 2007. Sales ≠ cashflow On earlier years, although Nuffnang sales highrocketed, the cashflow was poor. At one point he only has 5k left in bank, while there were invoices need to be paid out urgently. He came to Hon...

Saya Nuniek Tirta, bukan ((hanya)) seorang Istri Direktur

Saya bilang sabar, tunggu tanggal mainnya. Tapi sebelum saya jawab pertanyaan itu, saya mau mengenang masa muda dulu ah..  Jadi begini cucuku... Waktu pertama kali ngeblog 15 tahun lalu , usia saya masih 21 (yak silakan dihitung usia saya sekarang berapa, pinterrrr). Jadi jangan heran kalo gaya bahasanya masih 4I_aY 4b3zzz.. (eh ga separah itu juga sih, hehe). Tapi ekspresi nulisku di masa-masa itu masih pure banget, nyaris tanpa filter. Jadi kalo dibaca lagi sampai sekarang pun masih berasa seru sendiri. Kayak lagi nonton film dokumenter pribadi. Kadang bikin ketawa ketiwi sendiri, kadang bikin mikir, kadang bi...

The Waiting Room of Life

There are few things in life that test our character more than waiting. Not the kind of waiting where you’re stuck in traffic with your favorite playlist on, but the heavy kind; waiting without certainty. The waiting that weighs on you because you don’t know if it will end tomorrow, next month, or next year. I’ve been thinking a lot about this today because something big just wrapped up. A long-awaited promise was finally fulfilled. And in the process, I witnessed firsthand how differently people behave when placed in the uncomfortable chair of “ the waiting room of life. ” Imagine a waiting room where everyone has been told their name will be called someday, maybe soon, maybe late. You’d see at least two kinds of people. Some people sit quietly, open a book, maybe start a new project on the side while glancing occasionally at the clock. They don’t need to narrate their suffering to the entire room.  They choose dignity over drama.  They know that patience doesn’t have to be ...

Waiting and Celebrating

This morning was wonderfully slow, the kind of slow where time doesn’t feel wasted but savored. Everyone in the house had their own lazy rhythm. No alarms, no rush, just soft hours unfolding. By two in the afternoon, we finally left for Pondok Gede to check our first house.  We had it lightly renovated: The old, tired canopy was taken down, so the two-story house could breathe and look elegant again. The walls and fence got a fresh coat of white paint, giving it that “new beginnings” look. The cracked tiles were replaced, no more tripping hazards waiting for unsuspecting guests. The windows were repainted, catching a bit of shine when the sun hits. House for sell or rent, near Mall Pondok Gede. Contact here. Now it’s neat, clean, and... how do I say this... ready to meet its "jodoh".  Although we don’t know yet if the match is a buyer or a tenant. Should we sell it? Should we rent it out? We don’t have the answer yet. And for someone like me, uncertainty is both fascinating a...
