You know those days when you wake up and suddenly feel like Santa clause on a weekday. That was me today. I started early in Menara Dea 2, Mega Kuningan, hand-delivering a giveaway gift from my “back from hiatus” moment to my follower, Mbak Rista. Too bad we couldn’t chat longer because I had a meeting lined up and she was in the middle of training. Next time, for sure.
After that, my husband parked at Menara Karya while I slipped into the building right next to it, Menara Kadin. Why? To meet Mbak Rika, from my old office twenty years ago! I still can’t wrap my head around it… she’s been working there since before I joined in 2005, and she’s still there today. Two decades. That level of loyalty is wild.
She took me on a mini-tour of the office, and oh my goodness, nostalgia hit hard. My old room has now merged with her former room and transformed into a meeting space. Meanwhile, her current office is huge with a drop-dead gorgeous view 😍 And guess what? She still keeps this pic of us in the office!
The main reason I visited her was to give a wedding gift for her son, Ivan. I still remember him being nine years old and hanging around the office. Now he’s married. Time is a magician. I sadly couldn’t attend the wedding because it clashed with my eldest daughter’s birthday dinner.
From there, I walked back through the connecting pedestrian bridge to Menara Karya and joined my husband’s lunch meeting with our friends, Mas Sidiq Permana and Mas Taufan Arfianto, at Puput Restaurant. They had just come back from medical treatment in Penang, and hearing that everything worked out well for them, is truly relieving.
Then we crossed over to Graha Irama for a meeting with CIMB Niaga. It was raining ridiculously hard outside, but thankfully we were already indoors by the time it poured. After our meeting, my husband had another one with his investor.
While waiting for him, I walked back to Menara Karya and went straight up to Mein Cafe at 25th floor. One of my favorite waiting spots besides Erasmus Huis. The food and drinks are nothing extraordinary, but I just love the vibe.
I sat by the window at first to enjoy the skyline, but the AC was too much, so I moved to the giant hanging swing chair. Oh my, so comfy. I felt like a kid again, sipping coffee and editing content while swaying a little.
When my husband finished and came to pick me up, we made one last stop before heading home: street snacks in front of the building. Batagor, cilok, roti, the holy trinity of comfort snacks. And thank goodness almost everyone now accepts QRIS, because we rarely carry cash anymore.
That little convenience made the perfect fuel for our drive through Jakarta traffic back to BSD.
