Tired Out by Tires

A supposedly quick Tesla tire change turns into a six-hour tiring wait with naps, followed by rain and DATE.

I honestly thought it would be a quick errand.

Change all four tires of the Tesla, do spooring and balancing, grab lunch somewhere, and go on with life like responsible grown-ups.

But no.
We arrived at the Prestige workshop near the airport at 10 a.m., and guess what time we finally left? Four in the afternoon. SIX. HOURS. Later.

I don’t know what the mechanics were doing in there. Maybe they were serenading the tires first before installing them. But the whole thing took forever.

Thankfully, there was a decent café nearby. I found a spot by a big window, plugged in my phone, and ordered something to keep me company while my husband dove straight into his online meetings.

The café wasn’t crowded, but not dead either. Just enough people coming and going to make for some casual people-watching. And the food was surprisingly good! The coffee was proper, the portions were massive, and everything tasted better than expected.

While my husband looked all productive with his laptop and headset, I… fell asleep. Just like that.

No warning, no guilt, just my brain deciding to power off in the middle of the day. I didn’t even bring a laptop or a book, so after catching up on a few property messages and bank chats, my energy just… gave up.

By the time the car was ready, the sky was so dark and heavy rain poured like in dramatic movies. We rushed to pick up my youngest from her dorm, but she didn’t answer the phone for ages, because she had fallen asleep too.

The drive was intense. The kind of rain that blurs everything and makes you pray nothing big falls from above. Every time a tree swayed or a billboard creaked, I silently rehearsed my emergency plan. But we made it through safely, soggy and grateful.

We dropped our youngest at a cat café, where her sister was already hanging out with a friend.

Then off we went again, to BSD for DATE night.

This time, there were four couples and one single dad, who is also the group leader. We gathered to discuss Pastor Alvin’s message from last Sunday. Something deep and thoughtful, but somehow still funny in that “oh wow that’s so true” kind of way.

Everyone shared a bit of their story, their takeaways, or their current struggles. And even though I’d started the day waiting in a tire shop café half asleep, by evening I found myself recharged in a completely different way.

Looking back, the day made zero sense on paper.
What started as a simple car errand turned into:

  • Six hours at the workshop

  • One surprise nap

  • A rain-soaked drive

  • A rescue mission for a sleeping teenager

  • A cat café drop-off

  • And an unexpectedly good DATE night

Somehow, all of it fit together perfectly.

It wasn’t a productive day. Not even close. But it was full of little moments that made me smile. The unplanned nap. The surprisingly good coffee. The laughter during sharing. The relief of arriving home safe after the storm.

Maybe that’s the magic of messy days: they surprise us into living instead of just scheduling.

Selebihnya... What I Learned from Timothy Tiah - Founder of Nuffnang

Last Sunday when I entered VIP room at JWEF , I was introduced to this guy with his mini version boy on his lap, and his pretty wife with white top and red skirt. We had chit chat and he told me he’d be in Jakarta this Tuesday, and I told him that we’d have 57th #Startuplokal Monthly Meetup on Tuesday night.  To be really honest, only a very few did I know about him until he shared his amazing story on JWEF stage a few minutes later, and get inspired that I took note and now share this with you all.  Timothy Tiah founded Nuffnang with Cheo Ming Shen at 2006 when he was 22 years old, with 150k RM startup capital, partly borrowed from his father. He simply founded it because there’s nobody built it before, while the demand was actually there. The site was launched in February 2007. Sales ≠ cashflow On earlier years, although Nuffnang sales highrocketed, the cashflow was poor. At one point he only has 5k left in bank, while there were invoices need to be paid out urgently. He came to Hon...

Saya bilang sabar, tunggu tanggal mainnya. Tapi sebelum saya jawab pertanyaan itu, saya mau mengenang masa muda dulu ah..  Jadi begini cucuku... Waktu pertama kali ngeblog 15 tahun lalu , usia saya masih 21 (yak silakan dihitung usia saya sekarang berapa, pinterrrr). Jadi jangan heran kalo gaya bahasanya masih 4I_aY 4b3zzz..
Aduh kakek, jadi capek2 jualan uangnya buat dibakar ngerusak tubuh doang?
