Lectio Divina

Sejak diperkenalkan dengan konsep lectio divina pada tahun 2014 oleh dosen mata kuliah Spiritual Formation, saya selalu berusaha mempraktekkan ini setidaknya 15 menit setiap hari. Salah satu target saya untuk tahun 2019 ini adalah memperbanyak waktu lectio divina: 30 menit pagi hari, 30 menit malam hari.

Apa itu Lectio Divina dan bagaimana cara mempraktekkannya?

Lectio Divina adalah sebuah kalimat bahasa Latin untuk "pembacaan Ilahi" dan mewakili sebuah teknik monastik awal dari doa yang berlanjut dalam praktik di dalam kehidupan dan perutusan. Walaupun tidak terlalu tersebar luas dan dimaksudkan untuk mencapai kemanunggalan dengan Tuhan selain untuk memberikan pengertian spiritual dan kedamaian dari pengalaman ini. Ini merupakan sebuah cara untuk berdoa dengan Kitab Suci yang memanggil orang untuk mempelajari, menyelami, mendengarkan, dan akhirnya berdoa dari Sabda Tuhan.

Istilah Lectio Divina berasal dari Origenes. Menurut asal usulnya Lectio Divina adalah pembacaan Kitab Suci oleh orang-orang Kristianiuntuk memupuk iman, harapan dan kasih. Lectio Divina sudah setua Gereja yang hidup dari Sabda Allah dan tergantung daripadanya seperti air dari sumber (Dei Verbum 7,10,21). ~ Source: Wikipedia

Cara mempraktekkan lectio divina adalah dengan menerapkan prinsip 4R:

Reading (Lectio)
Baca dengan seksama kata per kata pada kalimat yang tertulis. Dapatkan makna yang terkandung pada kalimat tersebut, kemudian baca tulisan itu sekali lagi.
Reflecting (Meditatio)
Ambil jeda untuk mendalami makna dari kata, frasa, atau kalimat yang tertulis di sana. Dan ini yang terpenting: kaitkan maknanya dengan kehidupan kita.
Responding (Oratio)
Setelah mendapatkan makna yang terkait dengan kehidupan kita, ini juga tak kalah penting: bagaimana kita merespon makna tersebut? Apa sikap/pemikiran yang perlu kita ubah/perbaiki?
Remaining (Contemplatio)
Ambil waktu sejenak untuk berdiam diri merenungkan makna dan respon yang hendak kita perbuat, dan rasakan kehadiran Tuhan yang selalu menjaga kita.

Dengan lectio divina atau "divine reading", kita dilibatkan secara holistik: hati (dengan membaca), pikiran (dengan merefleksi), jiwa (dengan merespon), dan tubuh (dengan berserah). Sehingga kita bisa mendapatkan manfaat secara utuh.

Tidak hanya untuk membaca alkitab, lectio divina ini sebenarnya juga bisa diterapkan ketika membaca buku-buku lainnya. Teknik tersebut umum disebut dengan ~~slow reading~~ deep reading, silakan baca di sini: Deep Reading.

What I Learned from Timothy Tiah - Founder of Nuffnang

Waiting and Celebrating

This morning was wonderfully slow, the kind of slow where time doesn’t feel wasted but savored. Everyone in the house had their own lazy rhythm. No alarms, no rush, just soft hours unfolding. By two in the afternoon, we finally left for Pondok Gede to check our first house. We had it lightly renovated: The old, tired canopy was taken down, so the two-story house could breathe and look elegant again. Thursday, August 21, 2025 This is it! The day I finally got discharged after 10 nights in the hospital. After surviving ESWL for kidney stones + laparoscopy for appendix + mini laparotomy for myom and uterus removal. A Series of Plot Twists

Today felt like an indie film directed by the universe itself. Every scene had a sudden plot twist , and I was just the confused yet slightly amused main character, improvising my way through.
