Roads, Roots, Reminder

We kicked off Sunday with driving 43km to attend big family gathering on my husband’s side. Arisan keluarga besar, which meant food, laughter, catching up with uncles, aunties, cousins, and nieces. Family gatherings are a mix of nostalgia and new updates, laughter that feels familiar even if we don’t see each other that often.

After the arisan, we made a stop at our very first house. It's the one we bought together after I delivered our firstborn. It’s now in line for renovation after being rented out, and soon we’ll put it up for sale. I stood there looking at the worn tiles and old kitchen, remembering the excitement of our early years. The kids aren’t interested in managing it, and that’s fair. Life moves on. But still… it’s the end of a chapter.

(If anyone reading this happens to be looking for a house near Pondok Gede Mall and good schools, feel free to check it out here: Click here).

From there, we tried to rush back another 50km to catch the 5PM church service. We didn’t make it. Traffic, fatigue, and time just didn’t cooperate. So we dropped off our youngest daughter at her dorm and headed home. No regrets though, we did what we could. Life isn’t always about checking every box. Sometimes, just showing up is enough.

Dinner was simple but special: leftover capcay and soup from the arisan, shared between the three of us at home. We then watched JPCC’s online service together, and wow! Pastor Jeffrey Rachmat’s sermon spoke straight to my heart. He talked about purpose, how even the objects we use daily carry a brand or maker’s mark. How much more we, as humans, have a Creator’s name written on us. His message hit deep: let’s not live in a way that embarrasses the One who made us. Watch the video here.

Usually, evening is for winding down with a movie. But tonight, we skipped it. Instead, we reviewed and adjusted property listings, especially Bougenvilla (because the rest has been taken care by agents). That’s our current focus, and we take turns: my husband handles IT and technical stuff, and I do the marketing and communication.

(If you have plan for holiday in Bali, feel free to check and book Bougenvilla Nusa Dua)

Weekends like this remind me that life doesn’t always need to be perfectly balanced. Sometimes it’s messy, rushed, and unpredictable. But within the chaos, there are quiet moments of grace: shared meals, sermons that speak truth, tasks done as a team.

If your weekend felt too full, too fast, or not as "restful" as you'd hoped, you're not alone. But maybe rest isn’t just about stopping; maybe it’s also about reconnecting. With people, with purpose, and with the One who gave us both.

Take a moment tonight to pause and ask yourself: whose name that we carry? And am I living in a way that honors that? Whether you’re building a home, letting one go, raising kids, managing a to-do list, or just trying to stay afloat... remember that your life carries weight and meaning.

Let’s live with intention. For the brand we bear. For the people we love. For the stories still being written.

Love,

Nuniek
