Good girl gone bad in parenting

Image
Been holding myself for more than a week not to comment on the young selebgram girl who just got dumped and her brokenhearted vlog went viral. From my timeline and news stream I read people’s opinion about her that’s mostly negative: a good girl gone bad and give bad influence for youth generation. I wasted my time watching her videos and stalked her instagram until finish to observe whether what people think about her is valid. It is, unfortunately. Been thinking to discuss about this case to my soon-to-be-teenager daughters before they know it from their friends -who might also idolize her too-. It also came across to mind that they’d better be not knowing about it at all, but I guess it’s impossible to sterilize kids from what’s happening around. They would eventually find out by themselves, anyway. So I think, this is a good momentum to let my children learn from other’s experience about the meaning of rebellion, transformation, attention, popularity, friends and family in accor...

What I Learned from Grand Leadership Seminar with JOHN MAXWELL in Jakarta, 22/07/16 Session 2 of 2

“Everything worthwhile in life is uphill. And the only way to go uphill is to be intentional.” ~ John Maxwell 3 words describes intentional living: Deliberate They have thought about what they’re doing. Considering it. Consistence Climb, dont slide. Hiking 3 days = sliding 1 day to the point where you started. Willful You make a choice to go uphill. The challenge of every leader is to get people to live in uphill pattern when they feel the downhill lives. “Most people don’t live their lives, they accept their lives.” Be Intentional ! Be intentional in your growth! Be intentional in your personal growth. Why? It’s impossible to have a better tomorrow unless you’re growing today. Stay the same is not the way to be successful. We automatically get older. But we dont automatically grow/get better. Growth is not automatic. It’s not natural. John’s dad: I dont pay you to do chores, but I’ll pay you to read books. The sign that you’re growing is yeste...

What I learned from Grand Leadership Seminar with JOHN MAXWELL in Jakarta, 22/07/16 Session 1 of 2

John Maxwell is an American author, speaker, and pastor who has written many books, primarily focusing on leadership. He is 69 years old, been married for 47 years. His dad is 94, been married for 67 years before his wife passed away. Hubby and I bought Gold ticket for his Grand Leadership Seminar in Jakarta last July 22nd 2016, each worth IDR 2,8mio. We went there with other Tiket.com Board of Directors. I equipped myself with bluetooth keyboard to take notes, and here’s what I can share with you. 5 Levels of Leadership Position. Keyword: rights People follow because they HAVE to. This is a good place to start, but not a good place to stay. With this level they have authority, but they don’t give choice. Having leadership position doesn’t make us a leader! The problem is: you dont get the energy and time and commitment of people u lead because they’re there just to keep the job. In this level 1 company, people clear the desk right on time when the working hour ends.   Permi...

It was our second visit within less than a week. This restaurant has been evolving a couple of times within a decade, and we often go there even before I’m married. We love their newly-renovated interior & exterior designed with concept all about flight. There’s a flight miniature on the ceiling, flight-related information framed on the wall, and imported flight magazines too! On my previous visit last Wednesday, I had priviledge to chit chat with the owner. She said it was her child’s idea to revamp the place, since the child is an architect. They’re from air force family, that’s where the concept came from :) I like their soto b...
Sweet Escape ! On our family vacation last year to Batu - Malang, I hired a local professional photographer to capture moments while we’re in Batu Secret Zoo. The reason was simply because I don’t want to be missed in the frame, since I was the only one who loves taking pictures. On our family vacation this year to Osaka-Kyoto-Tokyo, I wanted to do the same. But flying a photographer just to take photos of us is so out of the option. I wanted to hire a local professional photographer, but how? And how about the cost, wouldn’t it be so expensive? Thank God I found out about Sweet Escape, a holiday photography service powered by Axioo photography. Their local photographers are spread in 230 cities worldwide, including those I visit in Japan. I chose Kyoto over Osaka and Tokyo because of its authenticity. So how does Sweet Escape works? Simple, just visit sweetescape.com for bookings. You will then meet the local photographer in that town, at the appointed venue. How ab...
[gallery] Bad Airbnb experience in Shinjuku Extremely disappointed with the host and almost ruin my family holiday in Japan. After tiring trip from Disneyland to Shinjuku by train with husband and kids, we were stranded in front of the slum alley of the apartment in the middle of the night (12am) because he didn’t reply my email and didn’t answer my phone call at all until Airbnb staff called from San Francisco the next day. Never had I experienced trouble like this with other Airbnb hosts before. We’re lucky that other guests let us in (they also experienced the same trouble before). But when we’re in, our room was already occupied by another group. They said we’re not the only one who had the same trouble that day. So that night we had a rest in tiny living room and my kids took a free bed to sleep (only 2 beds left, we paid for 4 beds). The next morning we were starving and he didn’t give us password for the room because he said it’s all occupied. We waited until almost mid day (11....
Tokyo Disneyland - 10 Tips & Trick 1.
Beda banget sama Osaka & Kyoto yg puanas sumuk sebelumnya, jadi agak salah kostum.
[gallery] Kinkaku (The Golden Pavilion) Kyoto, Japan Date of visit: 04 July 2016 Kinkaku or known as The Golden Pavilion is a Buddhist hall containing relics of Buddha, part of a Rokuon-ji Temple in the Shokokuji School of Rinzai Sect. Gold foil on lacquer covers the upper two levels and a shining phoenix stands on top of the shingled roof. It gives beautiful golden reflection on surrounding water. Tickets: ¥400/adult, ¥300/child
[gallery] Nijo-jo Castle, Kyoto, Japan Date of visit: 04 July 2016 Ticket price: ¥600/adult, ¥200/elementary children Opening hours: 9am - 4pm The castle was originally built in 1603 as the official Kyoto residence of the first Tokugawa Shogun, Ieyasu. It was completed in 1626 by the third Tokugawa Shogun, Iemitsu. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Total site is 275,000 m2 and buildings 7,300 m2. To enter inside the castle we must put off our shoes/sandals. No photo, food and drink allowed. What’s unique about this castle is that the wooden floor made a squeeking sound everytime we step on it, to prevent ninja sneaking inside. If you check below the castle outside, you can see metals between the woods that produced the unique sound.
[gallery] Review: Hotel Ibis Kyoto Station Date of stay: 3-4 July 2016 Room rate (when I booked): ¥22,680 for 2 rooms & 1 night (equals to IDR 1,5 million per room per night) Located right across Kyoto Station where you can easily get train, shinkansen, mrt, city buss, and night buss. Lotsa shopping stores, ATMs, banks, travel agents, and restaurants too. The room is tiny but it provides everything you need: full amenities (comb, toothbrush & toothpaste, shaver), comfy bathrobe (I wear it to sleep, hemat baju :p), hairdryer, slippers. Breakfast is decent; they offers basic varieties from rice, porridge, cereals, salad, bakery, fish and meat, fruits and juice, tea coffeee and milk too. Definitely recommended as budget hotel that offers best value for its strategic location and good service too.
