Started the morning with my usual gym ritual, but I skipped the sauna and jacuzzi today. Just wasn't in the mood to wash my hair yet!
For lunch, we hit up our go-to warteg (local food stall) that gives out free sweet iced tea. So good and incredibly cheap; it was only 33k IDR for the two of us. Right after, I swung by the Alfamart next door and grabbed 10 bottles of Pocari Sweat using a free 100k voucher. Got to love a good freebie! 👌🏽
Next, we headed to Depok and finally checked off a spot that’s been sitting in my saved places forever: Emily’s Listening Space. It's funny to think our whole lunch for two was 33k, while one glass of their Desert Cloud coffee was 40k and the Coconut Latte was 45k. But honestly, both were totally delicious, so it was worth every penny. The vibe is super cozy, almost like sipping coffee in a relative's vintage living room. Plus, since it’s a listening space, I got to pick out a vinyl record to play and went with a classic Al Jarreau album.
From there, we headed to our main destination: a hospital just 5 minutes away to visit my sibling's kiddo. She is hospitalized for Dengue fever. Her platelets and white blood cells dropped pretty badly. Thankfully, she is taking it like a total champ. Didn't cry at all during the injections or blood draws! She just said the needle didn't feel like an ant bite, but a crab bite 🦀. I asked, "Have you ever even been bitten by a crab?" and she laughed and said, "Nope!" 😆
By 3:30 PM, my husband and I were already back at the apartment, and I immediately headed down to my favorite bench by the poolside with the Limerence book. It was absolute perfection: completely empty, zero crowd, and the afternoon breeze was just right.
Later at 7:30 PM, the whole family went out for Korean BBQ since our eldest is back home. We ordered a budget-friendly birthday promo beef package (which surprisingly came with a free Gimbab Birthday Cake!) and some chicken. I always love eating here because the staff cooks and serves everything, leaving us plenty of time to just sit back, chat, and catch up. It ended up being affordable too: 280k total for the for of us including drinks, which boils down to just 70k per person! 👌🏽
