Today ended up being the complete opposite of yesterday, when I was in such a genuinely great mood. Since there was a massive protest happening in Jakarta today, we decided to play it safe and just stay close to home. Plus, I woke up pretty late anyway because we got home super late last night and I was completely exhausted.
But of course, I still got my workout in! I did my usual Caroline Girvan session at the gym from around 10 to 11 AM. I intentionally skipped showering right after because we decided to brave the heat and grab an early lunch outside at 11:30 AM, just to beat the office worker lunch rush. My husband ordered his absolute favorite gado-gado, while I tried the chicken tongseng. It was incredibly delicious and the portion was so huge I actually had to pack the rest to take home. The best part? It was super cheap, only Rp 15,000 with rice!
In the afternoon, around 4 to 6 PM, I had the most relaxing time reading a book on a bench by the pool. The breeze was absolutely perfect and I even dozed off for a bit. I was having such a great time reading until it suddenly got cloudy and started pouring rain!
Because of the weather, our plans to eat dinner outside got canceled, so we decided to just eat inside the mall. We had HokBen using a TikTok voucher, not bad at all, love a good money-saving moment. After eating, we walked around the mall. The original intention was really just to burn some calories and get our daily steps in, but guess what? We got sidetracked by the Wolipop modest fashion bazaar. I ended up buying matching vests for me and my daughter! They are so cute, and quite a steal too at only 200k for two pretty vests.
The walking didn't stop there. We also stopped by Uniqlo and did some laps. I didn't buy any clothes for myself this time, but I did pick up some baby clothes as a gift for my friend Sheila, who just gave birth. After that, we finally called it a day and headed home.
I really thought the protests out there had ended peacefully. But nope. Turns out there were some regime-backed thugs (ormas) causing riots late at night. Word is they claimed they were there to disperse the protesters and provocateurs, but in reality, evidence shows that they were the provocateurs and ended up beating innocent civilians! Damn it, people were so angry. May God repay their wickedness and this absolutely cursed regime.
