I broke my intermitten fasting a little earlier today, well before 10 AM, just so I could share a meal with my youngest before she headed off to campus. We kept it simple and walked over to the food court across from our apartment. Everyone got their usual fix: my husband went straight for his favorite gado-gado, my daughter had rice with grilled chicken, and I opted for papaya veggies, fish, and tempeh. The food was delicious and super affordable, though the vibe was slightly hijacked by the unavoidable cigarette smoke from nearby tables. You win some, you lose some!
Once our daughter left for campus, we headed back. My husband jumped right into work mode, and I hit the gym. Let me tell you, I was sweating buckets (gobyos!). There is definitely something about working out right after a solid meal: my heart rate spiked faster, and I just had so much more power. I skipped the sauna and jacuzzi since I just did them yesterday, opting for a quick shower back at the apartment instead. Naturally, the calorie-burning didn't stop there, thanks to the husband... #eh.
Epiwalk Coffee Dates
Later in the day, I hitched a ride with my husband. He had a meeting with an investor at his office, which was the perfect excuse for me to catch up with my bestie, Lisa, over butterscotch sea salt latte at Fore. We spent a solid hour and a half deep in conversation. We talked about her Mandira's Garden having to close temporarily, and bonded over the bittersweet reality of having our kids studying abroad: hers in the US, and mine in the UK.
Before we knew it, my husband wrapped up his meeting and joined us at the cafe. We offered to drive Lisa home since her apartment is nearby, but she asked to be dropped off at her husband's office instead. As luck would have it, a relative of hers owns a bakery right next door. We obviously couldn't resist stopping by to load up on some classic, old-school cakes for road snacks and treats for the kids.
Wrapping Up with Comfort Food
We capped off the day back near our apartment. The three of us walked over to a local spot for some sate and tongseng. The food hit the spot and the portions were incredibly generous, so much so that I had to pack half my tongseng to take home. My husband ended up walking back a bit earlier to unplug his fully charged EV, leaving us to stroll back at our own pace, heading home to turn in with full belly.
