A Very Slow Saturday (That Wasn't Actually That Slow)

After a grueling week packed with endless meetings and tight deadlines, I went into this Saturday expecting total stillness. No agenda, no rush, just pure, unadulterated relaxation. Well... spoiler alert: life (and random plot twists) had other plans!

8:00 AM — The Rude Awakening

My grand plans for sleeping in were violently hijacked at 8 AM sharp by a stubborn stomachache. Not exactly the peaceful, angelic wakeup call I had in mind, but hey, it got me out of bed. Since I was already up and my brain was surprisingly functional, I decided to tackle a three-day blogging backlog. Gotta keep that streak alive, right?

10:00 AM — Homework Negotiations

Around 10 AM, I finally ventured downstairs. My youngest daughter called out to say goodbye; she was heading out to do homework somewhere. Quick-thinking Daddy swooped in: "Why don't you just work on Dad's computer?"

Miraculously, she agreed, but under one strict condition: we must not disturb her. Which translates in teenage terms to: no bickering whatsoever. Lol, challenge accepted.

11:00 AM (Or Rather, 1:00 PM) — The Technician Saga

Next up on the "relaxing" agenda: waiting for the apartment technician to replace a burnt-out lightbulb. They promised 11 AM. 11 AM came and went. Tenant relations were completely unresponsive, leaving me hanging.

Refusing to sit in the dark, I hunted down another technician's personal WhatsApp number. Thankfully, he was responsive and helpful, even though it's his off day. His teammate finally showed up at 1 PM, two whole hours late, purely because of internal miscommunication. Ugh.

Plot Twist of the Day: Skipped working out entirely today. Zero guilt (okay, maybe a tiny bit). Saving all that explosive athletic energy for tomorrow morning's workout at the brand-new park near my sister's place!

Missing The Golden Hour

Later in the afternoon, I managed to handle some property paperwork while binge-watching a movie on Netflix with my husband. But here is my biggest regret of the day: I completely forgot the golden hour!

Normally, I live for the 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM window. Reading on the outdoor poolside bench under natural sunset light is absolute heaven for the eyes, not to mention the ultimate cozy spot. And I missed it entirely. Blasphemy!

Street Food Safari

To console my soul, we headed out at 5:30 PM for a casual street-side dinner date (all three of us). We took a short walk and settled on a humble roadside stall selling sate and sop. One portion of goat sate, one chicken sate, one goat soup, and two plates of rice; all for just 100k IDR. Absolute steal and delicious too!

Since they didn't serve drinks, we made a pit stop at a local angkringan for iced sweet tea, iced chocolate, and soft tear-apart bread (roti sobek). I also ordered liver and claw sates for 5k IDR each (30k total with all the drinks). But mosquitoes declared war on us, so we packed up the liver and claw sates to-go and retreated to base camp.

9:00 PM — The Mall-Above-Apartment Superpower

Back at the apartment, I finished the movie and a K-drama episode, sorted out some random stuff, and took a refreshing shower.

Right after stepping out of the shower, it hit me like a truck: I completely forgot to buy birthday gifts for my sisters. And it was already 9 PM.

Ah, the supreme luxury of living directly above a mall: zero parking drama, zero hassle, just an elevator ride away. For the next hour, hubby and I speed-walked around the mall hunting for inspiration. In the final 30 minutes before closing time, salvation appeared inside Decathlon: matching hijab and sports sleeve sets! Perfect to pump them up for their fitness journeys.

Midnight Cravings & Wrap-Up

Got back to the apartment just as the mall was pulling its shutters down. Suddenly, hunger struck again. Remember those takeaway liver and claw sates? Salvation part two! I reheated them immediately. It tasted even better because my daughter kindly fetched me drinking water and ice cubes. Total comfort proteins.

Before heading up to the bedroom, I whipped out some nice gift boxes and wrapped the presents. And now, after brushing my teeth, slapping on my face serum, and taking my magnesium supplement, I'm sitting here typing this blog post.

Here’s hoping I wake up bright, fresh, and early tomorrow morning!

xoxo,

Saya bilang sabar, tunggu tanggal mainnya. Tapi sebelum saya jawab pertanyaan itu, saya mau mengenang masa muda dulu ah..  Jadi begini cucuku... Waktu pertama kali ngeblog 15 tahun lalu , usia saya masih 21 (yak silakan dihitung usia saya sekarang berapa, pinterrrr). Jadi jangan heran kalo gaya bahasanya masih 4I_aY 4b3zzz.. (eh ga separah itu juga sih, hehe). Tapi ekspresi nulisku di masa-masa itu masih pure banget, nyaris tanpa filter. Jadi kalo dibaca lagi sampai sekarang pun masih berasa seru sendiri. Kayak lagi nonton film dokumenter pribadi. Kadang bikin ketawa ketiwi sendiri, kadang bikin mikir, kadang bi...

Family Holiday at Club Med Bintan - Premium All Inclusive Resort

I just had family holiday at Club Med Bintan, on 14-17 December 2017. To be frankly honest, it was way more fun than I expected as a short weekday getaway. Definitely one of the best vacation that we ever had! Photo of us in Club Med Bintan by Sweet Escape Transportation from Jakarta to Bintan Island We flew on Thursday morning, 14 December by Garuda Indonesia from Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Tanjung Pinang Raja Haji Fisabillah International Airport. It was scheduled to be boarding at 10:30 but unfortunately got delayed for about an hour, so we arrived at around 1pm.  Transportation from Bintan airport to Bintan resort  At Bintan airport, a driver was already waiting with a sign board "Club Med". We then continued the journey by car, an hour long road without traffic jam at all. Not much to see along the way, most of it was some kind of deserted areas. But when we entered Lagoi area, it is green everywhere I see.  Arrival at ...

Kami diperken...

2026, Let's Go Easy

It’s 1 a.m. as I write this, tucked inside a hotel room in Blitar , freshly back from a New Year’s Eve celebration at Aloon-Aloon Kota Blitar . Yes, that is the actual name. I didn’t make it up. The photos will prove it. 😀 We left the hotel at 10 p.m. sharp with intentionally empty stomachs. Strategic hunger. Because where else should one welcome a new year if not in the middle of a giant field filled with food stalls selling everything edible, drinkable, and probably regrettable in large quantities. Skipping snacks would have been morally wrong. After circling the bazaar in our best food-hunter mode, we finally docked at a humble tent stall with carpets spread out for lesehan seating . Dinner was rawon rice and chicken soto rice , both at the very comforting price of ten thousand rupiah per portion. The flavor, however, was elevated by a surprise plot twist: salted eggs pulled dramatically out of my mom’s bag. Emotional support telur asin , clearly. We had forgotten to bring UNO...

Roadtrip With No Deadline and Plenty of Snacks

Road trip day! We hit the road at 8 a.m., thirty minutes later than planned. But honestly, who cares? There was no deadline, no race to win. As long as everyone was accounted for and nothing important was left behind, we were good. Bonus point: I actually slept well the night before, which meant as the navigator of this journey, wasn’t half-asleep behind the wheel feels like small but crucial victory. Our first stop was at 9:30 a.m. at KM 57 rest area . The reason was simple and non-negotiable: coffee. My husband also needed to stop to do some office transfers, because work apparently travels with you now. While he was busy, I took Coffee Kenangan promo : buy two Toffee Nut Lattes , get one Americano free. Perfect timing, because my mom had specifically requested an Americano. Total damage: 50k. Cheap joy is still joy. While my husband was still glued to his phone, I dragged my mom to participate at Jasa Marga survey . The prize? An umbrella. She was ridiculously happy because, surpri...

Year End Reflection Ritual : 2025 - 2026

I came across Mel Robbins’ year end reflection ritual, six questions she has been answering for the past twenty two years. Six questions sound harmless, almost cute. Like a magazine quiz that ends with “you are a sunflower.” But once I started answering them honestly, I realized this was not a personality test. This was an emotional audit. Let’s start with the hardest one. The low points of the year. There were some. Actually, quite plenty. I can say this without drama now, but 2025 has been my lowest year since 2013. That year taught me survival. This year tested endurance. One of the heaviest moments came quietly, from a place I never expected to reach our home. It felt like standing in the middle of a storm that wasn’t ours to begin with, yet somehow found us anyway. My husband chose to stay when it would have been easier to leave, to keep holding the bridge together so others could cross safely. Opportunities passed by, shiny and tempting, but he remained where he believed responsi...

A Rainy Day That Refused to Be Quiet

I slept at 2 a.m. and woke up at 8, not because my body was ready, but because my best friend Detha was already in the apartment lobby. She had told me several days before that she might come by. Might, in best-friend language, usually means definitely. The plan was wholesome and optimistic. A morning walk around the botanical garden, chasing sweat and pretending we’re disciplined adults. Reality had other plans. Rain. Endless rain. The kind of rain that makes your bed whisper, come back, don’t be a hero. Honestly, rainy mornings like that are made for sleeping in, not cardio. So since the entire household was still asleep, I went down alone and we talked in the lobby instead. Life updates flowed easily. Surgery stories, health check-ins, holiday plans, and then heavier things, like the bullying her teenager has been facing at school. The kind of conversation that reminds you how friendship isn’t about constant laughter, but about being able to say hard things without rehearsing. At 10...

How We Spent Rp45k on Dinner and Rp1.4M on Dessert

What a wildly packed, contrast-heavy Saturday! We kicked off the day heading over to Alam Sutera to pick up a few things at Vintage Vibes before making our food pilgrimage to Porky’s in Gading Serpong. The food was as delicious as ever, though standard damage for two came out to around 350k IDR. A bit pricey, but the place was buzzing as usual. I remember when they first opened we never had a chance to get a table!  After lunch, we popped by Prelude in Gading Serpong, a music school owned by our friends Lukas and Nia, for a very specific mission: rehoming my eldest child’s preloved bass guitar. She requested it with so much enthusiasm for her 17th birthday, only to play it a grand total of three times in three years! Since she’s heading off to the UK soon and space in our apartment is precious, letting it go was a no-brainer. Thankfully, Lukas took it off our hands. We even got treated to gelato right outside Prelude while catching up with Lukas about his upcoming book on mindset. ...
