A Productive Saturday: VIP Lunches & StartupLokal Plans

My husband and I got a VIP invitation to an exclusive gathering for the residents of our apartment tower. The event was supposed to run from 11 AM to 4 PM. We casually strolled in at 11:30 AM, and guess what? We were the very first guests there, haha!

But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Because it was still quiet, one of the marketing team members came over to chat with us. Fun fact: he’s actually a unit owner in our tower too! It was great talking to him because he gave us insights from both sides: as a marketer and as a fellow resident.

We had a really long discussion about how to improve our living experience and what we can do together as a community. We even talked about setting up a WhatsApp group for the tower residents. My husband is now super fired up and wants to run for the head of the Tenant Association (PPPRS)! We just feel it’s such a shame, this is a prestige apartment in a highly strategic location with amazing facilities, but residents still have to pay extra for so many things. Time for some changes!

The networking didn't stop there. We also ended up chatting with the Marcomm team of the apartment and a hospital under the same group. One thing led to another, and we spontaneously brainstormed an event collaboration with my community, Woman in her 40s. It’s gonna be exciting! Before we left, my marketing lady gave us a special souvenir that was completely different from what the other guests received. Hehe, thank you so much!

After the event, we went back up to our unit, did our own things for a bit, and I took the most glorious, deep afternoon nap. So good!

I had to wake up just before 3 PM because our friend Herry had arrived at the mall downstairs. Herry was one of our apprentices who we eventually appointed as a co-initiator of our StartupLokal community. He works in Bandung but his hometown is in Subang, and he specifically made a pit stop in Jakarta today just to discuss the future of StartupLokal with us.

We finalized the theme for our upcoming comeback event on November 26 using a topic I suggested. We’re inviting three speakers who also happen to be our friends, and we immediately divided the tasks: one person is responsible for inviting one speaker. Gonna be another exciting event!

Of course, we had this entire meeting over food. We ate budae jjigae at Chadol Gujeolpan. Because my husband and I were still stuffed from our VIP free lunch earlier, Herry basically had mostly the whole pot. We just happily sipped on our corn tea and shared a watermelon sorbet.

Almost 5pm, we walked Herry to train station, but not before stopping by the street side to buy my husband's favorite coffee and snack on some otak-otak. Herry then took a travel shuttle back to Subang.

Good food, great discussions, and productive output. What a solid Saturday!

Tau nggak aktivitas paling ngangenin dari suami hampir tiap malam? Selain diusap2 kepala kalau mau tidur, juga... diolesin bedak pengurang gatal di sekujur punggung, hehehe. Semalam, putri pertama kami (9,5 tahun) melakukan ritual bersih-bersih sebelum tidur: mencuci muka dengan sabun pembersih wajah, sikat gigi dan mengoleskan body lotion, etc. Melihatnya, suami berkomentar: “Kok sekarang ritualnya banyak amat sih?” Putri pertama kami spontan menjawab: “Ya namanya juga mau remaja” Sontak suami dengan lebaynya merespon, “Huaaaaaaaa! Pacaran Minggu Ini

Andaikata blog dan social media saya punya semacam FAQ (Frequently Asked Question, alias pertanyaan yang paling sering ditanyakan), sudah pasti di urutan pertama akan bertengger pertanyaan: "Pakai produk perawatan wajah apa?" What a wildly packed, contrast-heavy Saturday! We kicked off the day heading over to Alam Sutera to pick up a few things at Vintage Vibes before making our food pilgrimage to Porky’s in Gading Serpong. The food was as delicious as ever, though standard damage for two came out to around 350k IDR. A bit pricey, but the place was buzzing as usual. She requested it with so much enthusiasm for her 17th birthday, only to play it a grand total of three times in three years! To be completely honest, celebrating Independence Day this year felt like a total heartbreak. With a regime waving more red flags than a parade, most of us feel like raising a white flag and just giving up. So why on earth did we spend 12 grueling hours out in the city?
