Family Holiday at Club Med Bintan - Premium All Inclusive Resort

I just had family holiday at Club Med Bintan, on 14-17 December 2017. To be frankly honest, it was way more fun than I expected as a short weekday getaway. Definitely one of the best vacation that we ever had!

Transportation from Jakarta to Bintan Island

We flew on Thursday morning, 14 December by Garuda Indonesia from Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Tanjung Pinang Raja Haji Fisabillah International Airport. It was scheduled to be boarding at 10:30 but unfortunately got delayed for about an hour, so we arrived at around 1pm.

Transportation from Bintan airport to Bintan resort

At Bintan airport, a driver was already waiting with a sign board "Club Med". We then continued the journey by car, an hour long road without traffic jam at all. Not much to see along the way, most of it was some kind of deserted areas. But when we entered Lagoi area, it is green everywhere I see.

Arrival at Club Med Bintan

We arrived in Club Med Bintan at around 2pm. We don't have to go to receptionist like at hotel or other resort. But here, some officers or they call them GO (I'll explain about them later), will come to you to introduce themselves, and explained everything about the resort, from facilities to activities. You only have to sit nicely, sip your welcome drink while wipe your face with wet towel, and they will take care of the rest. One of them will then escort you to your room.

The Rooms at Club Med Bintan

There are 311 rooms and suites in Club Med Bintan, with three types:
  1. Club Rooms, 34 - 39 m2
  2. Deluxe Rooms, 34 - 41 m2
  3. Suite, 60 m2
All rooms are suitable for up to 3 persons.

We got connecting 2 deluxe bedrooms at 1223 & 1224. One room with twin bed for the kids, and one room with double bed for mommy and daddy. Both are beautifully decorated with gifts to take, and personalized greeting cards with fresh fruits. The view from our room facing garden & beach is awesome, so tranquiling.

Evening Entertainment

My favorite and most awaited moment everyday at Club Med was this evening entertainment! Every 20:45 they have daily show that varies each night, continued with second event which is usually party starts from 22:00.

On second night, we laughed out loud watching super funny musical show at the theatre, followed by limbo competition.

On third night, we were amazed by the laser show at the theatre, continued with super fun face-painting glow in the dark party.

The Legendary Club Med G.O.

Since the first to the last day of our stay in Club Med, we were so much impressed by the  staff's hospitality. I saw in their uniform, the sign read as: G.O.

G.O, stands for Gentil Organisateur or Gracious Organizers, is the pillar of Club Med. This unique profession was invented by Club Med 60 years ago. The G.O is the ambassador of Club Med spirit and upholds the company's values, creating the bond, and spreading the joy.

The special feature of Club Med is that the GOs play, dine, drink, and dance together every day and night with the guests. They are the ones who made daily entertaining performance. They are rotated every 6 months to different Club Med resorts.

Here are some of their performance during our stay in Club Med Bintan. They're awesome!

About Bintan Island

Bintan Island is part of Indonesia's Riau Archipelago, a short boat ride from the city of Singapore. Its northern Lagoi area is an upscale resort destination offering championship golf courses, secluded beaches and diverse water sports. The northeastern Trikora strip is a less-developed coastline. To the south, the provincial capital, Tanjung Pinang, has Dutch colonial architecture and a rich history as a trade port.

About Club Med

According to Wikipedia, Club Med stands for  Club Méditerranée SA, a French public limited company specializing in the sale of all-in holidays at a number of "vacation villages" which it owns and operates in a number of (usually exotic) locations around the world.
Most villages are designed for families, with villages providing daytime supervised facilities for children: the "Baby", "Petit", "Mini", "Junior's" clubs and 12 Passworld facilities worldwide which offer a special hang out space for 11- to 17-year-olds.
The villages are now divided into three different types:
  1. Family resorts: villages with children's Clubs and activities for teenagers, offering relaxation and leisure activities, and welcoming families, couples and friends.
  2. Resorts for everyone: villages with no Club facilities for children and teenagers but welcoming couples, families and friends.
  3. Resorts for adult only: adults-only villages, from 18 years, offering entertainment, relaxation, sports, and leisure activities to friends, singles, or couples.
As of November 2015 the resort company operates 65 villages in Europe, Africa and Middle East, North America, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, Asia, Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean.

How to book Club Med Bintan Island

Please note that the resort does not take booking directly. You need to book through Club Med Jakarta office via toll free number 0800 1 258 263 on Monday - Friday (9am-7pm) and Saturday (10am-2pm). You can also check the website anytime: www.clubmed.co.id

Please also note that since 3 years ago, there is no membership requirements anymore in Club Med. In the past, it was compulsory to be paid an annual membership to be allowed to go to to Club Med. Now, this membership does not exist anymore, so everyone can go on holidays to Club Med without paying any membership.

However, there is a "great member" program to reward Club Med's faithful clients. Like most of the airlines do with the frequent flyers program, Club Med has kind of similar program to reward their best clients. Learn more about it here: Club Med Great Members .
