2014 : REVIEW

(credits: pic taken from here)

I can say that, 2014 was one of the best years of my life.

Personal Life

After a roller coaster year of 2013, I started 2014 with a journey to find a peace of mind. That was my main resolution for 2014. Beside asking God, I read many literature about it, I made a small project with my bff based on it, I self-published a book for it. And, I took counseling psychology class in theological college, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only I got education in counseling and psychology, I also got better understanding about myself through it, got deeper knowledge about my religion, and got support system by my lovely classmates. On contrary to 2013, in 2014 I did not do solo travel because I didn’t feel the need to.

Marriage Life

As a matter of fact, 2014 was the best year of our marriage life so far. The silver lining obviously came up after the storm. We took marriage retreat in Puncak for 3 days 2 night which became life-changing experience for our relationship. It helped us get to know each other more and more. We also got marriage mentor as a follow up program of that marriage retreat. I would totally recommend this awesome program to believer couples. My love bucket was full overflown. He is my personal charger. We raise our bars higher in terms of quantity and quality time spent together as a couple. Beside dating in town, we also had Valentine in Malang-Bromo-Pananjakan-Bukit Teletubbies-Coban Pelangi-, intimate time in Puncak, romantic candle light dinner and a bucket of rose in Tugu Kunstkring Paleis on our wedding anniversary, had consistent skype call while he was in US trip, hangout with startup friends in Makassar Sulawesi, and romantic short trip to St Regis & Botanical Garden Singapore

Family Life

I learnt a lot more from kids on 2014 like never before. They never fails to motivate me on becoming a better person. I spent more day-out with each of my kids to get quality time together. I frequently wrote about parenting tips and turned out many friends got enlightened by my writings, thank God. I implement everything I learnt about psychology & counseling to my family and the impact was amazing. We also spent more time together as a family. We had great time in Disneyland Hongkong, strolling around Bandung & Lembang, playing in Legoland Johor Bahru Malaysia, historical trip to Pulau Kelor-Pulau Cipir-Pulau Onrust- in Kepulauan Seribu, had coral day trip in Pulau Harapan also in Kepulauan Seribu, a full week school holiday in Bangka Belitung, swimming in The Jungle Bogor, snorkeling in Pahawang Lampung, swimming & staying in Marina Bay Sands Singapore, and also end the year in Villa Kota Bunga Puncak & Bandung with the whole big family.

Social Life

Still do catch up with besties, hangout with friends, family gathering, meeting new people, attending events, and of course organizing #Startuplokal meetup every single month with solid partners & team. Another achievement was that #Startuplokal has signed MoU to become official partner of Telkom’s Indigo Accelerator. One epic meetup happened when mister minister insisted to come to our event to launch Jakarta Digital Valley. And we had a sweet closure of 2014 when our dear friend Michel Birnbaum came over from Singapore to share about investment, and William Tanuwidjaya dazzled everyone in the room when he shared his life story until he gets $100 million investment just recently.

At the end of the year when I asked myself, did I achieve my main 2014 resolution? Have I found a peace of mind? I could safely say: YES!! :)

Saya Nuniek Tirta, bukan ((hanya)) seorang Istri Direktur

Aduh kakek, jadi capek2 jualan uangnya buat dibakar ngerusak tubuh doang?

Saya bilang sabar, tunggu tanggal mainnya. Tapi sebelum saya jawab pertanyaan itu, saya mau mengenang masa muda dulu ah..  Jadi begini cucuku... Waktu pertama kali ngeblog 15 tahun lalu , usia saya masih 21 (yak silakan dihitung usia saya sekarang berapa, pinterrrr). Jadi jangan heran kalo gaya bahasanya masih 4I_aY 4b3zzz.. Jadi kalo dibaca lagi sampai sekarang pun masih berasa seru sendiri. Kayak lagi nonton film dokumenter pribadi. Kadang bikin ketawa ketiwi sendiri, kadang bikin mikir, kadang bi...

What I Learned from Timothy Tiah - Founder of Nuffnang

Last Sunday when I entered VIP room at JWEF , I was introduced to this guy with his mini version boy on his lap, and his pretty wife with white top and red skirt. We had chit chat and he told me he’d be in Jakarta this Tuesday, and I told him that we’d have 57th #Startuplokal Monthly Meetup on Tuesday night.  To be really honest, only a very few did I know about him until he shared his amazing story on JWEF stage a few minutes later, and get inspired that I took note and now share this with you all.  Timothy Tiah founded Nuffnang with Cheo Ming Shen at 2006 when he was 22 years old, with 150k RM startup capital, partly borrowed from his father. He simply founded it because there’s nobody built it before, while the demand was actually there. The site was launched in February 2007. Sales ≠ cashflow On earlier years, although Nuffnang sales highrocketed, the cashflow was poor. At one point he only has 5k left in bank, while there were invoices need to be paid out urgently. He came to Hon...
